SDR Outsourcing for Key Accounts: Outsourced Outbound, Worked Account by Account
SDR outsourcing means paying an outside team of sales development representatives to run your outbound email, LinkedIn and calls. It is quicker than hiring. Check two things before you sign: whether the SDR is shared with other clients, and what is counted. For key accounts, a dedicated account-based selling consultant is the better fit.

What is SDR outsourcing?
A sales development representative (SDR) starts conversations with possible buyers and passes them to a seller. In SDR outsourcing, also called an outsourced SDR or SDR as a service, an outside company supplies the SDR, the tools and the management. You supply the offer and the sellers who take the conversations forward. Most outsourced SDR programmes are outbound: the SDR approaches people who have not asked to be contacted.
In-house SDR, outsourced SDR, AI SDR and account-based selling compared
| Option | What you get | Main risk | Fits when |
|---|---|---|---|
| In-house SDR | An employee who learns your product and market | Months to hire and train; one person, one skill set | You have a manager and a steady flow of work |
| Outsourced SDR team | People, tools and a process from day one | Shared attention; counted in meetings | Many similar buyers and a simple offer |
| AI SDR tool | Automated research, writing and sending | Wrong facts and generic messages at volume | A wide market where one poor message costs little |
| Account-based selling company | A consultant and a platform on a named account list | Slower start; needs an agreed list | Few large buyers, several approvers |
What should you check before you outsource SDRs?
Ask every provider the same six questions.
- Dedicated or shared. Does the person on my account work for other clients at the same time?
- The list. Who builds it, and do I approve it before outreach starts?
- The words. Who writes the messages, and do I see them first?
- The sending. Whose domains and mailboxes are used, and who keeps them when the contract ends?
- The count. What is reported: sends, meetings or progress inside accounts?
- The term. What is the minimum period, and what happens to the data at the end?
Why does outbound to key accounts need a different model?
On a long contact list a poor message costs little, because the next contact is one row down. On a short list of key accounts it costs the account, and the same few people are reached more than once. So the work changes. Each account is researched before anyone is approached. The buying committee is mapped. Several people are contacted, each with a reason that is true for that company. And one person stays with the account long enough to know its history.
How does Intandemly work?
Intandemly is an account-based selling company, working this way since April 2017, almost ten years. Each client gets a platform and a consultant dedicated to that client, supported by researchers, working a named list of key accounts agreed with you. We are not an SDR outsourcing provider: we do not sell leads and we do not promise a number of meetings. We report on five KPIs: outreach accounts, coverage rate, active buying committees, active conversations and the value of pipeline generated.
An outsourced SDR team fits when
- Your buyers are many and similar
- One person can approve the purchase
- You need first conversations quickly
Account-based selling fits when
- Your market is a list of companies you can name
- Several people must agree before anything is signed
- You want one person to know each account's history
