Lead Generation Agency or Account-Based Selling?
A lead generation agency finds many people who match a description and passes on the ones who respond. Account-based selling starts from a short list of named companies and works several people inside each one. Lead generation suits small, fast deals with one decision-maker. Account-based selling suits large deals that several people must agree.

What does a lead generation agency do?
It builds a large contact list from a buyer description, sends email and LinkedIn messages in volume and hands over whoever responds. The unit of work is the person. When one person does not answer, the next one is on the row below. The model is fast to start and easy to measure, which is why it is the default.
What is account-based selling?
Account-based selling starts with a decision: which companies do you want as customers? Each one is researched, its buying committee is mapped, and several people are approached with a reason that is true for that company this quarter. The unit of work is the account. A quiet contact is not the end of the account; it is a prompt to find the next relevant person. We call it "spears, not nets".
Why does the difference matter more now?
AI tools and sending platforms have made outbound volume close to free, so senior buyers receive far more of it and trust it less. When volume costs nothing, more volume is not an advantage. What stays scarce is evidence that the sender knows the company, and that can only be produced for a list short enough to study.
When is a lead generation agency the better fit?
Choose lead generation when the deal is small, one person can say yes, the market holds thousands of similar buyers and the cycle is short. Losing one buyer costs little, so breadth wins. Many good businesses are built this way, and account-based selling would be slow and expensive for them.
How do you tell which one your deals need?
Answer five questions about your last ten closed deals.
- Did more than two people on the buyer's side have to agree?
- Did the deal take longer than three months from first contact?
- Could you write down, today, most of the companies that could ever buy from you?
- Would winning one more of the right customers change your year?
- Did lost deals usually stall inside the company, with no clear "no"?
Three or more "yes" answers means your deals are account deals, whatever the current process is called.
How does Intandemly work?
Intandemly is an account-based selling company, and has been since April 2017, almost ten years. You get a platform plus a dedicated account-based selling consultant, supported by researchers, working a named account list agreed with you. We do not sell leads and we do not promise a number of meetings. We report on five KPIs: outreach accounts, coverage rate, active buying committees, active conversations and the value of pipeline generated.

Common questions
Is Intandemly a lead generation agency?
No. Intandemly is an account-based selling company. We work a named list of accounts agreed with you and report on accounts, not on lead volume.
Can we run lead generation and account-based selling together?
Yes, on different segments. Many companies keep a volume motion for smaller buyers and work their largest prospects account by account. The mistake is running a lead process on an account sale.
How many accounts should be on the list?
As many as the team can research properly, and no more. If nobody can say what changed at an account this quarter, the list is too long.
How is account-based selling priced?
As a monthly engagement, not per lead or per meeting. Tell us about your accounts and we will explain the options: Talk to us.
