How to Choose a B2B Lead Generation Company in India: Seven Questions

Short answer. To choose a B2B lead generation company in India, decide the type first: contact data, booked meetings or work on named accounts. Shortlist three providers of that type, then put the same seven questions to each and compare the evidence: who works your account, where the data comes from, what is counted and what you keep at exit.

Updated 31 Oct 2026.

No independent ranking of B2B lead generation companies in India exists, and the lists that rank for the search are directories and providers placing themselves first. So the choice comes down to the questions you ask. Our page on B2B lead generation companies in India covers the first half: the five provider types side by side and the quick filters for a shortlist. This post is the second half, the meeting after the shortlist: the same seven questions, asked properly, with the evidence to request, what a good answer sounds like and the sign to walk away.

What are you actually choosing between?

Five different services are sold as lead generation in India: contact data, responses from a list, booked first calls, an outsourced team and work on named accounts. A quote from one type cannot be compared with a quote from another, because they count different things. Decide the type before you collect a single proposal; the companies page has the full table. Then shortlist three providers of that one type and interview them with the questions below, in the same order, in writing where you can. Identical questions are what make the answers comparable.

What should you ask every shortlisted provider?

Seven questions decide the choice. Each has answers that should reassure you and answers that should end the meeting.

The seven questions, asked of every provider in the same order. The left column reassures; the right column ends the meeting.

The rest of this post takes them one at a time.

Is their work actually B2B?

In India, "lead generation" also covers real estate, education and insurance, and many providers run both sides of the house. Campaigns aimed at consumers are a different craft: bigger lists, faster decisions, one buyer. Ask for B2B work in a sector like yours and for two clients you can phone, ideally selling something of similar price and complexity. A good answer is a named client, in writing, with permission to call. Walk away when the portfolio is consumer work wearing a B2B label, or when every reference is confidential.

Whose list will you be working?

Somebody decides which companies get approached in your name. Ask who builds that list, from what starting point, and whether you approve it before anything is sent. A provider that builds a list for you and shows it to you first is selling judgement. A provider that works a list you never see is usually reusing one across clients, and your message lands on companies that three other vendors reached the same week. Walk away when company names appear only after someone replies.

Who will actually work your account?

The person who sold you the engagement will not be the person writing to your buyers. Ask to meet the people who will, before you sign, and ask how many other clients each of them carries. "A different team after signing" is a complaint that repeats in buyer forums, and it is easy to prevent: put the names in the agreement and agree what happens if they change. Walk away when you are not allowed to meet the delivery team at all.

Can they sell into your target market?

Plenty of Indian providers do strong work into the US, the UK and the Gulf, and plenty claim all three with evidence of none. If you sell abroad, ask for work in that market, not only in India: a reference client selling there, and working hours that overlap the buyer's day. A team calling Chicago from Hyderabad at its own convenience is a team your buyers never hear. Walk away when every market is claimed and none is evidenced. Our post on how to get clients for a software company in India covers the export version of this problem in detail.

Where does their contact data come from?

Ask how contacts are sourced, how often the data is refreshed and how opt-outs are handled, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. A provider contacting people in your name holds risk on your behalf, and the cheapest providers hold the most: bought lists, no suppression records, nobody accountable for a complaint. A good answer explains sourcing and opt-outs in writing without being chased. Walk away when the answer is "our proprietary database" and no questions are taken.

What counts as a lead, and what will the report show?

Most disputes with providers are about the definition of a lead, discovered after the invoice. Agree it in writing before setup: what makes a contact qualified, who verifies it and what happens to the ones your team rejects. Our free Lead Qualification Checklist is a working definition you can hand over. Then ask to see last month's report for a client like you. A report that names accounts and what moved tells you the provider watches outcomes. A report of sends and dials tells you the provider was busy. Walk away when the lead definition will be "finalised during onboarding".

What are the exit terms?

The time to negotiate leaving is before you start. Three terms matter: the minimum term and notice period, what is handed over when you go, and who owns the data, domains and mailboxes in the meantime. Contacts, conversation history and suppression lists should come back to you, because whoever holds them holds your market's memory of you. A good answer includes a sample handover. Walk away when the lock-in is firm and the handover is "to be discussed".

What does a fair price look like?

Four models are common in India: per lead, per meeting, a monthly fee, and a monthly fee plus commission. We publish no price benchmarks here, because the quoted figure is the smallest part of the comparison. Per-lead and per-meeting prices reward volume, so the definition question above matters more than the rate card. Ask instead what sits inside the fee and what is billed separately: setup, data, tools, domains. The free Vendor Quote Comparison Sheet puts three quotes on one table so the missing lines show, and the Lead Generation Cost Calculator works in INR and follows your own numbers through to cost per won deal.

When is a lead generation company the wrong buy?

When your revenue depends on a short list of named companies, and when several people must agree before anything is signed. A provider paid per lead has no reason to work the fourth stakeholder who never fills a form, and volume outreach spends each big account's first impression of you on a template. If that describes your market, compare models before you compare vendors: lead generation vs account-based selling sets the two side by side, and our guide to vetting lead generation companies covers whether to buy at all.

How does Intandemly fit this comparison?

Intandemly is an account-based selling company based in Hyderabad, working this way since April 2017, almost ten years. We are the fifth type in the table, not a lead generation company, and our client agreement says so: "Intandemly is not a lead generation agency and does not operate on a success-fee basis." Each client gets a platform and a dedicated consultant, supported by researchers, working a named account list agreed with you. The engagement is monthly, and we report on five KPIs: outreach accounts, coverage rate, active buying committees, active conversations and the value of pipeline generated.

What that looks like in numbers: Bankai Infotech sells telecom software in India, the UAE and wider MENA. Its case-study funnel with us reads 1,985 connections, 818 accounts reached and 21 accounts penetrated. The last line counts companies in live conversation, not form fills.

Why this works better on named accounts

The seven questions all point at one thing: whether the provider treats your market as a crowd or as a list of companies with names. For small, fast deals the crowd model works, and a good lead generation company earns its fee. For the deals that change your year it does not, because those buyers sit on a short list, remember their first impression of you and decide in committees. On a named list the questions stop being procurement hygiene and become the engagement itself: who speaks for you, to which companies and what happens after the first reply. Choose the model first. The vendor is the easy part.

Frequently asked questions

How many lead generation companies should you shortlist?

Three, all of the same type. Comparing a data vendor with an appointment setter tells you nothing, because they count different things. Decide the type first, pick three providers of that type and put the same seven questions to each in the same order.

Should you choose a provider in India or in your target market?

Location matters less than evidence. What counts is proven work in the market you sell into, reference clients you can phone there and working hours that overlap the buyer's day. Many Indian providers meet that bar for the US, the UK and the Gulf; ask each one to show it.

What should be in writing before you sign?

Four things: the definition of a qualified lead, the names of the people working your account, how contact data is sourced and opted out, and the exit terms covering notice and handover. A provider that resists writing these down is answering the question for you.

How long should you give a provider before judging results?

Setup takes weeks and early outreach is calibration, so judge the engagement in months, not weeks. What you can judge early is conduct: whether the list was approved, whether reports name accounts and whether the people you met are the people doing the work.

Is Intandemly a lead generation company in India?

No. Intandemly is an account-based selling company: a platform and a dedicated consultant engaged to open named accounts agreed with you. We appear in this comparison as the fifth provider type, we do not sell leads and we do not promise a number of meetings.
