How to use it
- Step 1: Answer four questions: industry, size band, geography and how many people will work the list.
- Step 2: Read the framework: your criteria summary, tier quotas sized to your team and 25 rows with nine columns.
- Step 3: Copy it into a spreadsheet and fill the rows from your own sources.
Your framework
A 25-row list for a team of 2: 6 Tier 1 rows, 19 Tier 2 rows.
A team of 2 can work about 30 accounts properly. That split is an illustrative starting point, not a benchmark. Redo it with your real hours in the capping lesson.
These are example answers. Change them to yours below.
This tool gives you no company names and no contact data. Nobody can honestly give you a free B2B leads list worth working. The framework makes every row you add earn its place, and the sources below tell you where the names come from.

Where the names come from
Fill the rows from these seven sources, in this order. The early ones bring a reason to talk with every name.
- Look-alikes of your three to five best customers
- Your own CRM history: lost on timing, left on good terms, no decision
- Companies your past champions moved to
- Companies already showing interest in anything of yours
- Your customers' suppliers, customers and peers
- Public lists in your niche: trade bodies, exhibitors, registers
- Databases and search tools, last, to fill gaps
The full method is lesson 1 of the course: Where Candidate Accounts Come From.
Why this beats a free leads list
Searches for a free B2B leads list end in the same place: a spreadsheet scraped or resold, already mailed by your competitors, with no connection to what you sell. Working a list like that costs more than it saves, because every hour goes to companies that were never going to buy.
A target account list starts from the other end. You write down who you serve best, where you can deliver and what disqualifies a company, then you add names one by one from sources that carry a reason: customers like your best ones, your own history, people who know you. The framework holds that shape, and the tier quotas stop the list outgrowing the hours your team really has.
The quotas here are an illustrative starting split, about three Tier 1 and twelve Tier 2 accounts per person. They are not a benchmark. The capping lesson in the Build Your Target Account List course shows the capacity sum to replace them with your own figures.
Why this works on named accounts
Common questions
What is a target account list?
A short list of named companies your team has chosen to work properly, each with a reason it is there. It is built from your criteria and capped at what your hours can carry, which is what this framework enforces.
Is this a free B2B leads list?
No, and that is deliberate. Company and contact data needs a licensed source and your own checks. Free lists are stale, shared with your competitors and built without your criteria. This tool gives you the frame; you supply the names from sources you trust.
How many accounts should be on a target account list?
As many as your team can work properly. The framework starts at 25 rows and sizes tier quotas from your team: a starting split of about three Tier 1 and twelve Tier 2 accounts per person, which you should redo with your own hours.
Where do I get the company names?
Seven sources, in order: look-alikes of your best customers, your own CRM history, companies your champions moved to, companies already showing interest, your customers' neighbours, public lists in your niche and databases last.
Is anything I type saved or sent?
Your answers stay in this browser. Intandemly receives nothing unless you choose to email yourself the framework.
